Text Aqua Bolivia

July-August 2008: at the request of Broederlijk Delen, I take on a photographic research trip for their campaign on water issues in Bolivia.

Whoever says water in Bolivia, says mines. Whoever says mines, knows politics, agriculture and economics are at stake.

Several local organizations were kind enough to show me their fight, their dependency on water, the damage done by the drought,

taking me into the most remote villages. Ventilla, Oruro, Caracollo, Tiriri, Villa Rosario, Pukara, Vito: an initiative on vitamin injections

for cows and lama’s, the mines of Kori Kollo, Kori Chaca and San Jose, schools in mountaneous communidades,...

Locals gave words to what I saw and photographed: not only projects and organizations but men, women and their children,

their frustrations but also their enthusiasm and perseverance.
